Lecture Recitals
In these recitals, Eisinger draws attention to the musical structures, points out how each work originated, tells interesting anecdotes, and illustrates all this with musical examples. In doing so, he succeeds in enabling his well-prepared listeners to experience the ensuing performance at a deeper level. The idea is to bridge the gap between the music and the audience and, at the same time, to awaken in them a lasting love and appreciation of piano music. This approach has been enormously popular with complex works on the grand scale, such as Bach’s Goldberg Variations, Beethoven’s Diabelli Variations and a cycle of Beethoven’s 32 piano sonatas, and has proved a great success for Eisinger.
